The opening of the Bathurst Portrait Prize was held last Friday night at the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery. With over 400 people in attendance to view the 190 plus entries for the portrait exhibition, it was a very successful night. There were some really brilliant works on show, ranging from drawings, paintings and photography.
It was also a successful night for myself, with my entry of local Bathurst photographer Frank Colzato taking out a highly commended in the photography section. It was a real surprise for me and my family who came to see the exhibition opening with me. It was also great to hear all the positive feedback about my portrait entry. Even over the past few days after the opening I'm still having people congratulating me.
There is still time to check out the portrait prize which will be on show at the Bathurst Regional Gallery until the end of September, and you can place your vote for your favourite picture (which I hope will be for my photograph) for the people's choice awards.
